my name is michael g. leyden.  i am nearing 40.

the impetus for my drawing arrives at the sheepshead bay public library.

Sidney teaches us.

i have never previously drawn in my life.

i lost my sons Kevin and Sean after long years of struggle in court.

that is how i identify myself.

Goldie, my third son, is the only equivalent factor by which i define my worth.

together we go to library drawing class. art has saved my life.

when there was NOTHING left to go to,

i went to that.

it did not judge me, cheat me, lie to or betray me.

there is a mutual respect and understanding.

stress is absent.

composition evolves. i am simply

a vehicle.

rented space.

Becoming.

i seek acceptance and understanding.  i seek purpose and mercy.

i have asked Heaven to allow and supply me a reason.

i do not know why i was sent these drawings.  i am simply committed to continue.

they make me feel peaceful and satisfied.

Clearly, the creative avenue of expression is the sole main way i can exhale the strength of

disappointment and regret, love and awe that stew in my spirit.

i have entertained both suicidal and homicidal ideations.

my interpersonal communication challenges loom large.

i fear that i do not deserve to get into Paradise.

and, pray for the direction and forgiveness to reverse that.

may god bless you with smiles.

enjoy the art “for arts’ sake!”.  Always.

i like you.
